While Europe is preparing hurriedly for a possible second wave of covid-19 infections, South America is yet to see the end of the first.

Four months since governments began national lockdowns in March the spread of covid-19 shows “no signs of slowing down” across the Americas, said Carissa Entienne, Director of The Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), in a press briefing towards the end of last month.
