Coronavirus surges in the suburbs

Oak Creek, Hales Corners, Brown Deer and the border of West Allis and West Milwaukee are some of the COVID “hot spots”

The suburbs have now become the newest “hot spot” zones for coronavirus cases. According to Milwaukee County health officials, Oak Creek, Hales Corners, Brown Deer and the border of West Allis and West Milwaukee have the highest concentrations of people with COVID-19. “I want to note, most alarmingly, we have now reached the highest number of cases in the suburban communities than we have throughout the four months of the pandemic thus far, and that’s something that’s continuing to trend in the wrong direction,” said Darren Rausch, Director and Health Officer with the Greenfield Health Department. Rausch used a heat map to show where the most cases in the county were reported between July 8 and July 14. Health officials said the 18-39 age range is the group leading in COVID cases in Milwaukee County and driving the rates of the virus.
