AMAZON’S NEXT PRIME Day is still a couple of weeks away, but apparently, the deals are already front and center. We don’t like to get too far ahead of ourselves here, but one of our all-time favorite fitness trackers, the Oura ring, is currently on sale for the lowest price ever, and it would be borderline unethical of us not to spread the good word.
Right now, the third-generation Oura ring is the cheapest we’ve seen all year, and that includes July’s four-day Prime Day event. Of course, this is the previous model we’re talking about; the Oura 4 came out last October and, admittedly, made some pretty impressive upgrades. But with no official announcement on the Oura 5, you can still track your sleep, heart rate, and key fitness metrics for virtually half the price of the latest model.
Ahead of Prime Big Deals Day, the silver and black colorways of both the Heritage and Horizon styles are going for just under $200. The matte black colorway (an editor-favorite) is also available in both styles, but will run you a couple of extra bucks at $229. Unsurprisingly, we’re staunch believers in fitness tracking here at Men’s Health. The latest technology has allowed us to do it, quite literally, in our sleep, and with extraordinarily reliable results. And while the Oura 4 is objectively an upgrade over its previous iteration, the gap isn’t as wide as you’d think. For example, Oura’s software is uniform across all devices. And thanks to the brand’s recent partnership with Dexcom, device insights and app intuitiveness are arguably better than when the ring first debuted.
I’m also a simple, meat-and-potatoes kind of guy. My key metrics, in a vacuum, come down to resting heart rate, heart rate variability during training, and blood oxygen sensing during sleep. The Gen 3 obviously covers more bases than that, but when it comes down to the basics, the older iteration suits me just fine. I also prefer it to my Apple Watch for sleep tracking, as the index finger fit is a bit more palatable when I’m trying to catch some z’s.
Research-grade sensors precisely monitor more than 20 biometrics in total, and the device features seamless compatibility with over 40 apps. The Oura Gen3 also boasts an impressive five to seven days of battery life after a full charge.
The only downside, though, is you’re required to pay for a $5.99 a month subscription to access all of the ring’s features. This isn’t exclusive to just the Gen3—it’s an across-the-board requirement. Considering the extra costs associated with the device, you might as well take advantage of the up-front savings while you still can—we don’t expect inventory to last long.
