Lassen County in California was one of the first counties in the Golden State to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic. But it will now close down.
What’s going on:
- Dr. Kenneth Korver, the county’s public health officer, announced Tuesday that the county has seen four cases of COVID-19. The county — one of the first places to reopen in the state — will become one of the first to switch paths and shut down.
- He wrote: “While Lassen County had no confirmed cases for the past three months, we were fully aware of the risk that the virus could come to our community. Unfortunately, this did happen and we now have a serious problem.”
- Lassen County reopened retail stores, restaurants, shopping malls and businesses after California Gov. Gavin Newsom allowed areas to reopen, HuffPost reports.
- Business will revert back to curbside pickup and delivery. Salons and places of worship will remain closed, too, according to HuffPost.

- California is set to top more than 4,000 deaths related to COVID-19, according to the Mercury News. There have been more than 2,000 new cases.
