The mayor of a Northern California city stated this week that he’ll step down after posting social networks messages comparing fans of President Trump to members of the Ku Klux Klan, a report said.
Angry homeowners in Auburn, about 33 miles northeast of Sacramento, confronted Mayor William Kirby throughout a city council conference performed by video since of coronavirus issues, FOX 40 of Sacramento reported.

Kirby appeared sorry as he attended to the council and homeowners, the report said.
” I spent 40 years devoting my life to serving the community of Auburn as a physician and through my volunteer efforts. Am I best? No. We’re all a little problematic,” Kirby said, admitted to the council that a few of his current posts were misdirected.
In one of the posts, the mayor– who is likewise a physician– shared an image of a Ku Klux Klan hood, with the caption, “Great news for Trump fans is that most of them already have masks,” the report said. The post was later taken down.

Kirby blamed Trump for his frustration, explaining that as a doctor he now puts his life on the line due to the fact that of a lack of appropriate gear and screening capabilities.

” This president has actually put all of us at risk,” Kirby said.
The council likewise heard voicemails about Kirby left by city locals and fellow council members, FOX 40 reported.
” These remarks are hateful, degrading, bigoted and more consistent with the mentality of a 15- year-old,” one voicemail stated.
” These comments are despiteful, degrading, bigoted and more consistent with the mentality of a 15- year-old.”

” It is incredibly disappointing and I think that he ought to be eliminated,” another message said.
Others supported the mayor.
