WITH THE FIFTH season of Netflix’s Outer Banks dropping this summer, Chase Stokes is busier than ever. The 33-year-old actor is producing his own projects like The Valiant One on Hulu and is an ambassador at large for Bring Change to Mind, a non-profit that works to normalize mental health conversations among teens. And, when the surf’s up, he’sriding waves near his home in Los Angeles. Here’s the gear that keeps him in flow.
“I bought a pack of resistance bands on Amazon and bring them with me everywhere,” says Stokes. “They allow me to get a workout in no matter what my schedule looks like or whether or not I have access to a gym.” This set from REP starts with 5 pounds of resistance and goes up to 175 pounds.
“This is a cool everyday sneaker that I can wear to the airport, but also hit a workout in,” says Stokes. Packing these means the actor can have a low-profile shoe that looks fresh on the foot and eliminates the need to pack another pair for training.

Stokes grew up close to the surf culture in Coco Beach, Florida, where he developed a passion for the waves, which he now tackles with this Channel Islands Surfboard. “I dig this board because it’s the perfect size to handle all kinds of waves and a bit of chop as well,” he says.
“I have a hard time falling asleep, and I know how important it is to my recovery,” says Stokes. To help him during stressful days or travel, he takes one of these NSF-certified melatonin pills before bed. “They come with this little vanilla scent tab that makes it an all-around pleasant experience.

“My stepfather was a DJ, and I was exposed to a lot of great music as a young kid,” Stokes says. Now he keeps the music alive at home, playing on his own guitars, like this Fender Stratocaster, and occasionally jams with Outer Banks co-star Drew Starkey.
