Publix said Tuesday that another three employees at Central Florida Publix stores have tested positive for COVID-19. A spokeswoman for the company said two of the employees work at stores in Orlando and the other at a store in Celebration. One employee works at the Publix at 10615 Narcoossee Road in Orlando and another at 14185 Lake Nona Blvd. in Orlando. The other case was an employee at the store at 29 Blake Blvd. in Celebration“Like other essential service providers, we have seen our own associates and their families personally impacted by COVID-19. Unfortunately, as public health officials have indicated, we expect to see an increase in cases as the virus spreads in our communities,” spokeswoman Maria Brous said.Publix previously confirmed positive cases at the store at 2873 S. Orange Ave., which is in Orlando, south of downtown, at the store at 16825 E. Colonial Dr., which is near Bithlo, and at the store 3450 E. Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala. Publix has taken a number of steps to limit the risk for employees and customers.The company has installed plexiglass shields at cash registers, made aisles one-way and adjusted store hours to allow more time for disinfecting.Publix said it is giving 14 days of paid leave to any employee who contracts COVID-19 and any employee that came into close contact with the infected worker.
