Placer County was added to California’s COVID-19 watchlist on Thursday, according to the California Department of Public Health.The county was added to the list because its hospitalization rate and hospital capacity does not meet threshold criteria, state data shows.Placer County saw a 36.4% increase in its 3-day COVID-19 hospitalization average and has 19.6% of ICU beds available. The state thresholds for the categories is greater than a 10% increase and less than 20% availability, respectively.As of Thursday, Placer County Public Health reports 993 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 11 virus-related deaths. The county says there are 29 COVID-19 patients in the hospital and three cases in the ICU.When a county is added to the list, it is asked to close indoor operations for some businesses, including restaurants and movie theaters, and completely close bars.In a Facebook post, the Placer County officials released a statement about being added to the list.”Placer County has been placed on the State’s COVID-19 Monitoring List as of July 9.
