BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET)– Physicians, researchers and federal government officials throughout the world have encouraged– even ordered– people to stay home to avoid the spread of the unique coronavirus.
Now, 2 doctors in Kern County are sharing a varying viewpoint. They say safeguarding in place is doing more harm than great.
Doctors Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi of Accelerated Urgent Care refuse to use masks outside. They say the longer people remain within, the more their immune system drops.
They’re requiring Kern County to resume immediately.
” If you have no signs, you need to have the ability to return to work,” Erickson said Wednesday. “Are you an asymptomatic viral shedder? Possibly. But we can’t evaluate all of humanity … the major events, the sporting occasions, these are excessive. Let’s get back to those gradually. Let’s begin with schools.”
Erickson said COVID-19 resembles the influenza in occurrence and death rate. His numbers, however, do not mesh with stats launched by the Centers for Disease Control and Avoidance.
According to the CDC, 34,200 people died from the influenza throughout the 2018-29 season, a death rate of 0.01 percent.
Up until now, more than 46,00 0 individuals have passed away from the new coronavirus– a death rate of 5.6 percent.
Kern Public Health spokeswoman Michelle Corson reacted to the physicians’ claims by saying public health authorities continue to stick to the guidance issued by Gov. Gavin Newsom regarding the stay-at-home order, and urge locals to continue to practice social distancing, regularly wash their hands and use a mask when out in public.
