More Greenville restaurants made announcements Thursday about closings or positive tests amid the coronavirus outbreak, while a downtown restaurant that had closed last week has reopened.

Halls Chophouse

Halls Chophouse Greenville, on Main Street, announced that two employees tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month.

The statement from Jim Wahlstrom, director of human resources and operations for Hall Management Group, did not say that the restaurant was closing.

Wahlstrom said DHEC ws notified about the two separate cases, and that the restaurant followed CDC guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing any area with which the employees came into contact.

“Neither employee had direct contact with guests, and one worked alone,” Wahlstrom said. “Anyone who tests positive, must test negative in the future before returning to work – or until the appropriate time recommended by the CDC.”

Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe

Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe, on Augusta Street, said someone in the building last weekend tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

“For the safety of our guests and team, effective immediately, Smiley’s will be closed until further notice,” the post said. “Our entire team is being tested and we are having the restaurant professionally sanitized.”

Ding Tea Greenville

Ding Tea Greenville, on Orchard Park Drive, posted on its Facebook page that it was closing dine-in seating, citing “concerns about the increasing COVID-19” cases in Greenville, but did not mention anything about customers or staff testing positive for the virus. Takeout and curbside dining were still being offered.

REYS

REYS on North Main, posted on Facebook Wednesday that it was closing, despite none of its staff testing positive for coronavirus.

“We just want to be safe, do our part, and help set us all back on the right track of flattening the curve of COVID-19,” the post said.

Urban Wren

On Wednesday, Urban Wren, on Markley Street, posted the news on its Facebook page.

The restaurant said one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.
