County health officials say the risk to others at the Albany pool that day is low
ALBANY — The Albany County Department of Health said Monday it identified an individual infected with COVID-19 who was at the city’s Lincoln Park Pool on Saturday, July 4.
The county said it investigated the case, “and determined the risk to others at the pool at that time was extremely low. There is no ongoing risk to the public,” the county said in a statement.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said swimming pool use is a low risk activity, as it appears coronavirus can not be contracted through shared water, and people are outside – which has been shown to greatly reduce risk. Risk increases, however, if people are very close to each other when outside, or inside, a pool.
Residents with questions or concerns can contact the County Health Department at (518) 447-4580, or may discuss it with their own doctor.
