James Crocker hadn’t had symptoms of COVID-19 for 21 days when he learned of Stacie Rathel’s urgent plea for donated plasma for her husband Kevin, hospitalized in critical condition with the virus. Crocker had since recovered, giving him the precious antibodies currently being tested for their potential to treat severe cases. He contacted Stacie and arranged to donate his plasma. A few days later, Kevin was discharged from the hospital and was surprised to meet his “blood brother” James.
