A Connecticut authorities department is using a drone geared up with virus-detecting innovation to assist battle the coronavirus.

The Westport Cops Department on Tuesday evaluated the pandemic drone, which can measure body temperature levels, read heart rates, and detect for coughing and sneezing from 190 feet away, according to the drone business Dragonfly.

The department also plans to utilize drone technology to implement social distancing at beaches, train stations, parks and other locations where people gather together.

This technology not only improves the security of our officers and the general public, but the principle of utilizing drones remains a go-to innovation for reaching the most remote locations with little to no manpower required, said Westport Chief of Police, Foti Koskinas.

Westport Police Department has been utilizing drones since 2016.

The department s drone-pilot, Captain Ryan Paulsson, said, we are modeling the future of drone combination in public safety by using Draganfly s technology as first responders.

As of Tuesday, Fairfield County, where Westport lies, has seen 306 coronavirus cases and 34 deaths from the illness.
