I WILL HAVE THE LATEST, COMING UP. DANA: BREAKING OVERNIGHT IN THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, MORE THAN 350,000 PEOPLE HAVE DIED. GEOFF: FOR THE SECOND DAY IN A ROW, MORE PEOPLE DIED IN BRAZIL THAN THE U.S. BRAZIL HAS THE SECOND HIGHEST NUMBER OF CASES IN THE WORLD, BEHIND THE U.S., AND RECORDED MORE THAN 1000 DEATHS IN THE LAST DAY. THE U.S. RECORDED NEARLY 700. WORLDWIDE, THERE ARE NEARLY 5.6 MILLION CASES, NEARLY 1.7 MILLION IN THE U.S. OFFICIALS HAVE COMPLETED NEARLY 15 MILLION TESTS IN THE U.S. THE COUNTDOWN HUGE LAUNCH TO SPACE IS NOT FAR AWAY. IF WEATHER COOPERATES, THE FIRST MANNED MISSION FOR NASA ON U.S. SOIL, SINCE THE SPACE SHUTTLE, WILL LIFT OFF THIS AFTERNOON FROM CAPE CANAVERAL. TWO NASA ASTRONAUTS WILL BE ON A SPACEX CAPSULE, A FIRST FOR THE PRIVATE COMPANY.>> OUR COUNTRY HAS BEEN THROUGH A LOT, BUT THIS IS A UNIQUE MOMENT WHERE ALL OF AMERICA CAN TAKE A MOMENT AND LOOK AT OUR COUNTRY DO SOMETHING STUNNING AGAIN, AND THAT IS LAUNC AMERICAN ASTRONAUTS ON AMERICAN ROCKETS FROM AMERICAN SOIL.>> WE LONGED TO BE A PART OF A SPACE MISSION, A TEST SPACE FLIGHT, AND DOUG AND I ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET THAT OPPORTUNITY. GEOFF: THE LAUNCH IS SCHEDULED FOR 4:33 THIS AFTERNOON. IF THE LAUNCH IS DELAYED BECAUSE OF WEATHER, IT’LL HAPPEN THIS WEEKEND. YOU CAN WATCH LIVE COVERAGE FROM FLORIDA LEADING UP TO THE LAUNCH, HERE ON WYFF NEWS 4. DANA: THAT IS GOING TO BE SO EXCITING TO WATCH. BACK TO CORONAVIRUS COVERAGE, THE IRS HAS NEW INFORMATION ABOUT STIMULUS PAYMENTS. GEOFF: MANY OF YOU ARE STILL WAITING ON THAT MONEY. OUR CHIEF NATIONAL CONSUMER CORRESPONDENT JEFF ROSSEN IS FOLLOWING THE MONEY ON ROSSEN RESPONDS. JEFF: WE ARE DEEP INTO THIS. SO MANY OF YOU ARE FRUSTRATED AND I GET IT. WE ARE TRYING TO GET YOU ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS. HERE TODAY IS PETE DUNN. HE IS A “USA TODAY” FINANCIAL COLUMNIST, HOST OF THE RADIO SHOW AND PODCAST “THE PETE AND PLANNER SHOW,” AND CEO OF TWO COMPANIES. YOUR MONEY LINE AND HEY, MONEY. WELCOME.>> GOOD TO BE WITH YOU. GEOFF: LET’S START WITH THE STIMULUS PAYMENTS. WHAT IS THE MESSAGE FROM THE IRS ABOUT WHY PEOPLE ARE STILL WAITING AND WHAT PEOPLE SHOULD DO IF THEY HAVEN’T GOTTEN THEIRS YET?>> SO FAR, 152 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE RECEIVED A STIMULUS PAYMENT . JEFF, I KNOW IF YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT ISN’T IN THAT GROUP, YOU’RE FRUSTRATED. WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IS THEY SAY IT STILL WILL TAKE 20 WEEKS FROM APRIL 15. WHICH TAKES US TO SEPTEMBER 2 FOR PEOPLE TO GET PAPER CHECKS, SO THERE’S BEEN SOME CONFUSION ABOUT THAT. EVERY NIGHT, OVERNIGHT, THE IRS UPDATES ITS “WHERE IS MY PAYMENT” FEATURE. YOU’RE ENCOURAGED TO ONLY CHECK ONCE A DAY, NOT TEN TIMES A DAY, ONCE A DAY. CHECK IN THE MORNING TO SEE WHEN YOUR PAYMENT IS COMING, AND THEY SEND OUT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE LOWEST INCOME FIRST WHEN IT COMES TO A CHECK SITUATION. JEFF: SO, IT IS GOING TO BE A LONG HAUL?>> FOR SOME. AND ARGUABLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE REALLY HIGH INCOME BUT ARE GETTING A CHECK, IT COULD TAKE UNTIL AUGUST. JEFF: COOKINGISMYTHERAPY35 WROTE ME ON INSTAGRAM, WHEN I CHECK THE IRS WEBSITE, IT SAYS MY CHECK WAS DEPOSITED WEEKS AGO. WHEN I CONTACTED MY BANK, THEY SAID NOTHING WAS SENT OR IS STILL PENDING. WHAT’S GOING ON?>> WELL, I WILL TELL YOU THIS, THE ISSUE IS PROBABLY THAT IT WAS PUT INTO THE WRONG ACCOUNT, WHICH MEANS IT WILL GET KICKED BACK AND THAT PERSON WILL LIKELY GET A CHECK. WE’RE SEEING A LOT OF THIS. THINGS GOING INTO THE WRONG ACCOUNT OR PEOPLE USING TAX PREPARATION SERVICES WITH A DEBIT CARD ATTACHED TO THAT SERVICE. AND SO WHEN THE DEPOSIT IS PUT INTO THAT ACCOUNT, IT IS REJECTED, WHICH TAKES A COUPLE WEEKS TO DO AND THEN THE PERSON IS PUT IN LINE FOR CHECKS WHICH MEANS BACK TO THE 20-WEEK RULE. JEFF: ON TWITTER, LAURENTWEETS101 WANTS TO KNOW, WILL COVID-19 BE CONSIDERED A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION LATER ON, CAUSING HEALTH INSURANCE AND LIFE INSURANCE COMPANIES TO RAISE RATES? THAT’S A GOOD QUESTION.>> IT IS A GREAT QUESTION, AND IT’S VERY INTUITIVE BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN. SEVERAL LARGE LIFE INSURANCE COMPANIES HAVE ALREADY STOPPED ISSUING POLICIES FOR CERTAIN AMERICANS ABOVE A CERTAIN AG YOU ARE LIKELY TO SEE QUESTIONS ON A NEW LIFE INSURANCE OR HEALTH INSURANCE APPLICATION REVOLVE AROUND THE SYMPTOMS AND THIS TIME WE’RE LIVING WHICH IS THE PANDEMIC. SO THAT WILL HAVE A HUGE IMPACT ON THE INDUSTRY. HOWEVER I WILL SAY, PEOPLE WHO CURRENTLY HAVE INSURANCE POLICIES AND ARE ACTIVELY INSURED, IT WILL NOT AFFECT THOSE POLICIES. JEFF: PETE, THANK YOU FOR BEING BACK HERE WITH US.>> MY PLEASURE. JEFF: AT HOME, WE KNOW THIS IS A DIFFICULT TIME FOR SO MANY REASONS. HERE’S HOW YOU CAN SEND IN YOUR QUESTIONS TO ME.
