The head of the Centers for Illness Control and Prevention is alerting about a 2nd wave of coronavirus striking in the winter season that might possibly be worse than what the country is currently going through.
Robert Redfield talked to the Washington Post and said, “There’s a possibility that the attack of the infection on our nation next winter will in fact be a lot more tough than the one we just went through … And when I’ve said this to others, they sort of put their head back, they do not understand what I imply.”
Redfield’s comments come in the middle of talk in numerous states about possibly resuming some businesses soon, and protests in some states calling for those reopenings.
Redfield was asked about those demonstrations, along with talk of “liberating” states motivated by President Donald Trump in current tweets:
Asked about the appropriateness of protests against stay-at-home orders and calls on states to be “liberated” from constraints, Redfield said: “It’s not useful.”
He said he, together with members of the White Home coronavirus job force, have been clear about the importance of social distancing “and the massive effect that it’s had on this outbreak in our country.”
