NOW, SHE’S BACK AT LIFE CARE CENTER.>> ON JUST FEARFUL THERE’S GOING TO BE A RELAPSE AND SHE’S GOING TO END UP BACK IN THE HOSPITAL OR WORSE. SARAH: HE SAYS HE WANTS THE FACILITY TO BE HONEST ABOUT THE EXTENT OF THE OUTBREAK, AND ASK FOR HELP IF THEY NEED IT.>> OBVIOUSLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING RIGHT NOW IS NOT WORKING SO SOMETHING HAS TO HAPPEN TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE OUT THERE. SARAH: ANOTHER FAMILY AGREES. VICKI SAYS HER MOTHER IN LAW ISN’T GETTING THE CARE SHE NEEDS AND HAS GONE WITHOUT A SHOWER FOR TWO WEEKS.>> THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I SAY THIS — YOU NEED TO HELP THEM. SARAH: SHE WANTS RESIDENTS MOVED TO MIDLANDS HOSPITAL, A SUGGESTION OFFERED BY THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. THE BEST POSSIBLE SOLUTION IS TO TAKE MIDLANDS ON WHAT THEY SAID, GET THEM OVER THERE SO THEY CAN BE CARED FOR WHILE THEY CLEAN OUT PLACE OUT AND GET THEIR STAFF HEALTHY. SARAH: BOARD OF HEALTH PRESIDENT CHRIS RODGERS SAYS THAT OFFER STILL STANDS. BUT NOW, HE SAYS THE SITUATION HAS ESCALATED, AFTER THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND COMMISSIONERS LINES WERE FLOODED WITH CALLS ABOUT THE FACILITY.>> I KNOW DR. POUR MADE AN OFFICIAL OUTREACH TO THEM COME IN AND LOOK INTO IT AND I MADE A CALL TO A HIGH-LEVEL OFFICIAL AT THE STATE EXPLAINING TO THEM THE CALLS AND THE SITUATION. SARAH: THOSE TWO AND COMMISSIONER MARY ANN BORGESON ALL ASKED THE STATE LOOK INTO THE FACILITY.>> IT IS CONCERNING BECAUSE OF ALL THE CHATTER AND I DON’T KNOW THAT THERE HAS BEEN ENOUGH INFORMATION SHARED TO GIVE COMFORT AND ASSURANCE. SARAH: LIFE CARE’S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SAYS STAFFING IS NOT AN ISSUE, AND THEY HAVE NO PLANS TO MOVE RESIDENTS. A CNA INSIDE THE FACILITY SAYS STAFF IS WORKING HARD, CLEANING, AND FOLLOWING PROCEDURES.>> IT IS NOT THE RESIDENT’S FAULT. IT IS NOT THE FACILITY’S FAULT.

On Monday, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services inspected the Life Care Center in Elkhorn. According to a news release from the DHHS, officials are in the process of reviewing the findings from the inspection.The DHHS said it will release information about the process once it is completed. The Life Care Center in Elkhorn is a long-term care facility. As of Wednesday, Life Care Center of Elkhorn announced that a total of five residents have died and 10 are hospitalized as the facility grapples with a COVID-19 outbreak. Officials from the facility said 79 residents have been tested and 52 have tested positive.The DHHS said it is working with the Douglas County Health Department and UNMC/Nebraska Medicine in an effort to care for the residents and staff members of the Life Care Center.
